We don’t believe in engagement or that people are our greatest asset. We believe in helping people do their best work. We’re helping people re-think the way they approach performance. Check out the general logic for focussing on engagement and how we flip it around.
We want you to forget about engagement.
We’ve asked many clients “Why are you so focussed on engagement?” and the answer usually comes back “So that our people are more productive and committed.” The general logic is:
We take the opposite approach. We want to help people do their best work and help leaders to create the environment for this to happen. We believe that if people are able to turn up to work every day and feel like they are achieving and performing at their best, that there are no barriers and they can thrive, then they will be the most engaged staff you could hope for. Our equation looks like this:
People are NOT our greatest asset:
Most organisations spend an incredible amount of time, money and resources on attracting the best and brightest people. We’ve seen too many of these people end up on the wrong side of the ledger – they become liabilities instead of assets.
Much of our research is uncovering the truth behind individual performance – that the work environment matters far more than the individual’s potential. The only way to move people from being liabilities to assets is to give them the tools to perform at their best and create the environment for them to thrive.
People are not our greatest asset, our ability to manage people and create the environment for them to succeed is our greatest asset.
